SWIMMING CARNIVAL 2008!

OMG, I'm really shagged from swimming carnival. The last time I swam that intensively was for the swimming drive at Toa Payoh in er, end of IP2??? Really have to work out.

but still, we had lots of fun!! The team: Huiwei, Charlyn and Jiasheng! Yay you guys rock XD Regardless of the result, we still won together! :D

The first event was Charades. Basically, one person had to swim to the other end of the pool, and pick a card. The card would show a swimming style, and the person would have to act it out for the next swimmer to swim across the pool. And this goes on and on until the whole thing ends! Jiasheng went off first, followed by ME! And I had to KICK all the way to the other end of the pool! Oh man, by the time I reached the other end, my thighs were like BURNING. I finally realised how useless my kicking is since I felt like I was really slow. This also means that my freestyle is 85% dependant on my arm muscle!! Gotta train up, gotta train up. Still, reached there soon, and the first card that I picked was like: swimming across with only one hand?? I don't even know how you even do that, so I promptly changed to another one. Thankfully, it was freestyle, and Huiwei came charging across! Next, it was Charlyn that came over in breaststroke. Woohoo we finished that part in no time!! :D:D:D

The next event was against resistance. We had to run across the pool, turn around a pole for eight times, and dash back across. I think this event was really lame T___T Lol Jiasheng even ran back haywire super funny guffaw XD

Next event... it was water captains ball!! We played with our junior class 08IP04. Our juniors were really good! Especially Matthew who kept appearing out of nowhere. We played against 06Ip01 and 08Ip01 and GRRR the 01 guys are super rough... Couldn't stand them at all so I just kept screaming at them to stop it T__T Huiwei and Charlyn suddenly suffered from cramps halfway in the game, but they even persevered on! Admirable :D The game ended abruptly because a girl from 08Ip01 suffered from severe cramps, so yeah that was all.

the next event was erm, placing a balloon between two tummies, holding an aluminium foil between our mouths and going to the other side of the pool. This was rather boring I shan't elaborate.

THE MOST IMPORTANT EVENT! THE RELAY!!! Argh it was so stressful la!! I was the first swimmer, and I was like moaning and groaning (to relieve stress) before the swim. Thankfully, the tension went away when I dived into the pool. I swam freestyle, and it felt pretty fine but eventually got really tired out and slowed down. By quite a lot I feel. I was swimming with Zichao, since he was at the lane beside me, and I could feel him catching up!! ARGHHH!! it was really really annoying. okay, but at least i reached the other end. Quite surprising too, since Jiasheng was already gone when I lifted my head from the water.

Finally realised that the freestyle wasn't as bad as I expected. It was over rather quickly... But it's just the feeling of anticipation before the swim that is dreadful.

okay when I reached the other end, I couldn't see anything at all because I didn't have my specs on T_T I only knew that Huiwei suffered from cramps halfway during the swim too and she was seriously in need of help at the end of the competition. Luckily her life wasn't in danger or anything lar. And Charlyn was really fast in her freestyle la!!!! Heard that she closed up on the swimmers in front pretty quickly :D:D

Spiderwick Chronicles

I watched Spiderwick Chronicles today. It was a BRILLIANT movie, loved it a lot.

It was a great movie that kept me holding my breath most of the time. I'm a fan of fantasy shows so I enjoyed the movie a lot :D Something like Harry Potter and The Golden Compass, just less of the fan service and more of the novel content. Loved the special effects and the scenes, and the creatures were designed beautifully as well! Freddie Highmore, Charlie in 'Charlie and the Chocolate Factory', plays Jared and Simon Grace, a pair of twins. That means he's playing two characters. This movie is adapted from the four book series: The Spiderwick Chronicles, so you can read more to find out. Generally, the movie is about protecting a book named The Spiderwick Guide, a guide to the darkest secrets of the world around us.

The general storyline is simple, really, the typical save the _____, save the world kinda thing, but its how they go about doing it that's important (: After browsing through the Spiderwick Chronicles novel website, I realised that they left out many creatures in the movie :< Here are some pictures and captions that describe the movie! This is Thimbletack. Both of them. Thimbletack is a brownie, as shown on the left. But when Thimbletack is provoked, it swells up like the hulk, and turns into a Boggart, as shown on the right. Brownies like to eat honey and will be appeased with that.

(*Boggart is used in Harry Potter as well, but unlike Spiderwick Chronicles, it is a shape-shifter that will take on the shape of the victim's worst fear. Actually there are many definitions of Boggart which can be seen on Wikipedia)

This is the Greater Bull Goblin, a larger Goblin that was chasing Jared for the Spiderwick Guide. For some reason, it reminded me of the Warcraft when I saw it in the movie. They can die when in contact with tomato sauce.

 

This is a Griffin, Arther Spiderwick's pet. It can only be summoned in this ...strange tense. But the first three words were "Griff, Grapp, Greep". The shape of the Griffin in here is also similar to that of Harry Potter, just that the latter names it Hippogriff instead. They are the same thing.

This is Mulgarath, an Ogre. It is a creature that every secret creature is afraid of, since it is a sly shape-shifter. His real look is like that though, and he's humongous. The way he dies is freaking funny...

 

This is Great Aunt Lucinda. She is Arther Spiderwick's daughter and also knows about the secret world as well. She stays in Safehaven now since nobody believes her when she says her father was abducted by fairies.

Ice Skating and IMH!

Such an eventful day today was. Running up and down Singapore is a part of my life now. Sighhhhhh...

It started off with Ice Skating! Desiree, Huiwei, Lynna, Daniel, Joycelyn and I from ohfour were there. And it was really exciting! We got to JEC really quickly from school, and were shocked to see the ohsix people already there! O_o Turns out that we could go there on our own after all, so Lynna felt really cheated since she could practically walk to JEC.

Ice skating is always a fun event, but after all the rounds and rounds around the rink, it got really boring after a while. We were really envious of all the younger people who could skate better than us, spinning in circles and doing figure eights here and there. There was this really good Army guy who was an ex NJC-ian there too! 'Sides that, we were doing relatively fine on our own. Daniel immediately fell upon stepping onto the rink!! And he fell down a record of sixteen times!! WOOT MAN! But at least he can skate properly now hahaha. And Desiree managed to learn how to spin as well and Huiwei was trying very best to do it as well. Lynna was busy doing her shimmy shimmy thingy T_T And I was well, stoning after a while since it got really boring. Eugene Teo was around trying to compete with people but ended up banging into them since he really cannot brake LOL. And Shuyi came up with this really cool way of braking too! HAhahaha it was hilarious.

I think the funniest thing that happened was Anh, trying to pick up some kindergarten kids!!! Omg, I got a shock when I saw him making eyes at this little boy O.o ZOMG! He built his fanbase pretty quickly too; there were children pelting him with ice wherever he went.

[AND I REALISD THAT I LOST MY WALLET WHEN WE WERE GOING DOWN TO KFC TO EAT! ARGHH I NEARLY DIED MAN, I WAS SEARCHING HIGH AND LOW FOR IT. ... Turns out that it was in the RANGE after all. WT!@#$%... I have a tendency to freak out for no particular reason]

Then there was IMH. We were nearly late for the bus to IMH since 66 took forever to reach NJ from JEC. Anyhow, IMH was fine... I appreciate their hospitality; they even had tea reception for us after their talk (: And we went around touring their compound... Its quite a quaint place actually. hahaha. Charlyn was having a sad day, like me before i realised my wallet was in the range, too. She lost her hp in the taxi! Thinks she left her hp there while they were rushing... But at least she's made a report and cancelled her line already. At least her phone was ringing when she called but sadly its not now; reckons her phone has no battery. But I really hope she manages to get her hp back!! Have faith!

Went to Anime Matsuri at Vivocity with Desiree today (: Managed to snap some pictures, but sadly the turnout wasn't as much as I expected. There wasn't much variety as compared to the other cosplays that I've been to, but there were still some that impressed me (:

Sora madness. From the game Kingdom Hearts! This is Desiree's favourite character in the event. His attire is very nicely done, lol, that stitch thing there looks very extra, but I think that's what Kingdom Hearts is about. I don't play it much so I don't know.

FLCL!! Furi Kuri XD. Atomsk and Haruko! MY favourite characters in the event. Although the storyline for this anime doesn't make any sense >_> But the seiyuus for this show are really good XD The art is a little eccentric and all, but altogether, it's a really exciting anime. I like how they pulled the characters off!

  Deathnote LOL. Near and L (: The cosplayers look pretty young, but they look convincingly like Near and L. Actually, Desiree and I observed four Ls (and counting) at the event T__T But this is the best so far. I like how L did his hair, and his expression and everything.

The only dumb thing about this is that he's wearing SLIPPERS (he's supposed to be barefooted!), and he's wearing a RALPH LAUREN LONG SLEEVED SHIRT. Look at the logo on the right T_T

oh man, i shouldn't have AGREED to watch 第一戒 on Tuesday. I'm being overly sensitive to noises that i would usually overlook!! Esp the scene in the swimming pool toilet... ARGHH!! SIAN. Testing your limits eh, xiurong. I was genuinely freaked out during the show, like what happens for every horror film. What's worse that it's NC-16!! ARGHH, I can't even take a PG Horror Film for goodness sake! Thankfully, I didn't run out of the cinema halfway. Dang it, and I specially sat near the aile for that reason.

I didn't get shocked during the film, thank goodness. Maybe cos I was hiding behind my bag most of the time. Bag, I thank you.

I hate mosquitos, those filthy blood suckers should just DIE and get away from me. Stop sucking my blood, damn it. My leg is specked with swollen blood clots because of your stinging and they're itching a hell lot, so get away from me before I smack you and derive pleasure from bursting that blood-filled abdomen of yours.

WHAT A HORRIBLE ELECTRIFYING DAY IT WAS!

First Incident
The previous night, I vaguely remember myself lying on the floor, with my arms folded and face downwards. And the next moment, I awoke to find myself on the sofa, my second bed. It was bright and white around me, so I reckoned my family went to bed without switching off the lights. I looked at my watch: 8:40. It wasn't so bad, at least the day wasn't over.

The room seemed to be brighter and warmer than usual, so I decided to stretch my neck to peer behind me. Strange, there was a bright light coming out from the direction of the window. Hmm? That's odd. And it took me some time to realise that...

IT WAS MORNING ALREADY.

ARGHH! And it was 8:40am! Not pm! ARGHH!

Sigh, I flopped back onto the sofa with a sign. It was bad enough that I didn't spend last night doing anything; I slept with my outing clothes on too. Whatever.

Second Incident
I reached out for my phone to check if I had any new smses. Especially relay messages, it wouldn't be nice if Yanhui didn't get anything that Joannah sent, would it?

I picked my phone up, and start pressing buttons. Press press press press press press press...

HOW COME MY SCREEN IS ALWAYS WHITE.

The weirdest thing about it is, it still seems to work normally. Like for all sony ericsson phones, when you turn your phone on, there's this sudden vibration, then your phone will have those funny animation thingys. The difference in mine is that the screen is WHITE. And when you lock your phone, your keypad gradually fades to a dim, and there's a "keypad lock" sign on your screen. The difference in mine is that the screen is WHITE. And I can't call my phone at all!

So... Now I am promoted to! 6230i. Not so bad lar, not as bad as the previous upgrade, where I got this 500g 大哥大。

Third Scenario
WINDOWS LIVE MESSENGER CONSTANTLY GIVES ME THAT STINKIN' TROUBLESHOOTING NOTE THAT SAYS THAT MY FIREWALL IS BLOCKING THE CONNECTION! But of course NOT, why would I wanna block windows live messenger?? Anyway, I decided to ALLOW it into my computer since my computer says I HAVEN'T. But NOOOOOOOO, the stupid messenger still says that I didn't unblock it! It's so so so so so

ANNOYING.




'sides that, I went out with Ona today, with her cat high friend and his rj friend. Geez, his rj friend is good at physics. I feel so demoralised when I did physics that time T__T.
