this is going to be a verrrrry loooooong possssssssst.
OH HURRAY OBS WAS GREEEEEAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAT! XD
NEHRU AND SEMANGAT ROCKS MY SOCKS MANZXZ!
THANKS YOU: CHUYUN (CHOOYOON), DIANA, DAVINA (小的!), SANIAH (GLORIOUS!), GERO, BEE, JEN, CHRISTINE, EUGENE (色behbeh!) AND MATTHEW! (CRISPY EARS!)
ok, anyway, the whole obs thing was great. Initially it was a little uneasy for me to be in Nehru since I wasn't especially close to anyone. Chuyun became my best buddy from then on (: She kept money for me! Thanks loads girl. And ahem, she couldn't stop commenting on my ahem, pouch of mine.
I shared a room with chuyun and diana (: I love chuyun for her wonderful wonderful clearasil that stops my pimples from popping from all that perspiration coming out when we toil tediously. Hahaha, Diana was certainly entertaining with her endless rant on her dear rabbits! Our room was certainly amusing man.
Anyway, there was this mini kayaking expedition first, and I kayaked with Saniah and Chuyun. We used a tri-yak instead of a kayak, difference in it being that it accomodates three people instead of two. It had been such a long time since I last kayaked (hur, last obs -_-) so it was quite refreshing to start kayaking once again. Oh and there was the jetty jump! The jetty jump was pretty cool, and thankfully there weren't any fishes down under that would enter our pants when we fall. And I remember Jiasheng was the most entertaining when he jumped man... got pose somemore wor!
There was the cross field expedition that we had to do as well, walking around here and there was VERY TIRING AND EXHAUSTING. We had to find markings on trees that were around the OBS land, and wth the markings were like NO WHERE TO BE SEEN. Walking through the forest was certainly a killer with all the sandflies and mosquitoes and many random insects like SPIDERS. I was grouped with Rachel, Amanda and Jocelyn, and many thanks to Jocelyn who swapped bags with me when we were trekking half-way. Anyway, our group met up with Bee, Gillian, Tiff and Chuyun halfway when we were trekking! Their markings were rather near our's on the map, and it was quite a miracle for them to be able to meet us at the same place since they entered through some unknown pathway. Yes, but there was lots of screaming at spiders and such, and looking across the gate towards Malaysia (:
In the end we returned with nothing but dirt and soil.
Sailing was the main event on this OBS trip, and our sailboat was SEMANGAT! THAT MEANS SPIRIT IN MALAY MAN! We certainly had much spirit on this boat. (on our way to Campsite 2 and Sembawang) We spent some time under the scorching sun learning how to set up our sailboat and wth, wanted to sleep already la. So in the end, WE HAD A LOT OF TROUBLE TRYING TO SET UP OUR SAILBOAT. I was in charge of the sail at the back (i forgot its name) with Eugene and Matthew, and wth we had so much trouble trying to recall that stupid bowline knot. LOL, and we er, accidentally let one end of the rope fall into the water LOL. The whole setting up process took about two hours in the end -.- There was this huge swash freaked the hell out of our teams, and we were desperately trying to get our balance on the boat, and at that moment, I GOT MY FINGER CAUGHT IN THE BAR THINGY. I don't know how to describe it, but its the region where the pole holding the sail, and the base connects. So my finger got caught in that region and wth, it really stung.
It took some time for us to reach Campsite 2, but still a good feat for amateurs perhaps. Thanks to the canoists Gero, Bee and Matthew and Eugene for transporting us back and forth from the campsite or sailboat. There were so many variables to control in the boat, like the jeep and all that, tacking and jiving and the dreaded DIPPING. It was all so tedious. Shujen and Davina are pros at Dipping! Everyone played a part in bringing us all to safety, but still there was captain Matthew who made it all right.
Sleeping in the Sailboat was HORRIBLE. I didn't sleep a wink at all, and I was hopefully waiting for Chuyun and my turn for night watch, which was after Jen and Christine, when I suddenly realised that they did around half an hour more -.- Because I dontknw I totally did not sleep that whole night, most probably cause I was sleeping out of the Basha shelter , and I could see lightning flashing and thunder booming. I really did not want it to rain, NO I DID NOT. ohyeah and eugene was sleeping next to me on the boat. it wasnt so bad, then suddenly i felt the boat vibrating, and that added to my fear of the boat having some problem, then i realised that it was eugene who was snoring LOL. Okay that wasnt so bad. then his leg kept on poking mine, so i moved my leg then. By the end of the day I was driven to one corner. Nevermind. In the end it was Chuyun and my turn for night watch, and it was really an entertaining time with her (: I realised that there was more news in the IP than I realised after all -.- ohfour is certainly quite ignorant to these stuff.
Still when I finished Nightwatch, I did not sleep. The next moment, it was morning already. Sian. Oh and I had some trouble peeing by the rudder there too > <
Hahahah the morning ritual for the sailboat was the best man, because not only was it refreshing, it meant toilet time as well! XD If you get what I mean ;D Poor eugene didnt know how to swim, so Nehru was supporting him all the way! And of course he was touched la because we were constantly pushing him hurhurhur.\
Oh, and before I forget, there was High elements too! We were climbing up the Indiana, this large high element obstacle course that was in the shape of ship. It was damnn scary man and I kept on shaking and trembling on the tightrope in the middle element. I think I wasn't being serious enough since I kept on slipping off the tightrope, and being too reliant on the belayers that were right down there that kept me from falling. Hur, at least I managed to pass it (: Desiree was damn pro at the high elements la! So was Jen and Christine (: Gero, Sherlene and Amanda tried the middle elements after me too, and -.- they performed better la.
Shizer, I forgot to add in the last kayaking expedition that we embarked on. We were supposed to make our way through these mangroves and back around to Campsite 1 again. I was kayaking with Matthew and Diana, yay, at least the power was ahem, evened out. It was really thankful for it to be HIGH TIDE, compard to last year when it was LOW TIDE my god. The mud bank was totally submerged in water yay! So that means NO MORE MUDDY SHOES XD Matthew wanted to attempt kayaking right through the mud bank, but sadly I think we didn't have enough power so we were just stuck there in the middle -.- I nearly drowned in the river too lah, since I had to get out of the kayak to push it into the water, and jump into the river to get back up. Nevertheless, it was really fun but still exhausting, and there were the few memorable moments when we were singing random songs like "Hey There Delilah" and songs from Click Five hahaha. I really enjoyed this kayaking experience (: Of course, we reached destination 2.5 hours earlier too HAHAHHA! Although our food bag was mostly eaten by Diana but ITS OKAY (:
we ended off our OBS expedition with another high elements component, and woot it was certainly nerve wrecking. We had to climb up a really high distance, jump, and grab onto a trapeze, SO IT WAS REALLY SCARY. It was more like committing suicide man -.- At least I managed to complete it though! So it was a major accomplishment for me, although I slipped off the trapeze after grabbing it. hahahaha but it was glad that everyone managed to finish it asap (:
okay, this is done with all the major components. there were many memorable moments too, like the sick jokes of peeling bao o_O (...BAHAHAHAHAHHHAAAHAH!!), and Matthew's BRILLIANT imitation of Diana, the random bursts into song, and the totally wonderful wonderful lunch and mealtimes (:
Most importantly, fishballs are goooooooooood.
I was too lazy to scan, but yes THIS IS NEHRU (:
