Sudden Strike

You're walking down a road. It's quiet and tranquil. The surroundings are peaceful, and you see the trees towering over you, but they don't hold any threat. No malice, pure pleasure. There's a breeze. It's hopeful, and it gives you encouragement to continue walking forward.

Motivation mounts in your heart, and euphoria puts a smile on your face. It's bliss, and glee, and you walk faster and faster, quicker and quicker, till you break into a run. The surroundings are a blur due to your speed, and the adrenaline pumps through your blood, bringing you to an all-time high. I can do anything! Everything is within my reach!

Yes, you can do it! the trees whisper.

Faster! Faster! the winds blow.

Give it your best shot! Don't stop! Move!

It feels like you're flying, soaring above the skies,

And you hear a crack, like that of a whip.

Something strikes you. It pierces right through your heart mercilessly, painfully. Your eyes start widening in surprise, and your heart beats hard against your chest. Blood flow is terminated, as your heart slowly loses its function to pump blood to the rest of the body, as your brain starts to shut down. By the time you settle down into a state of shock, it is all too late. You merely crumble down to the ground in a heap of flesh, useless and immobile. You don't know what struck you because for now, the fear of death is simply overpowering.

The towering trees overshadow you. The chilly wind blows through your bone.

With their eyes glistening, and mouth seemingly curving into a sly smile,
Goodbye.
